The Spanish Work, formerly Deb Cooks... (debs kitchen creations), was created in a quest to both improve the original website and to become more involved in the blogging world.
Why The Spanish Wok? you may ask. Quite simply I feel the title gives a better insight into my style. You see, I am a major fan of oriental and asian cuisines. My favourite being Chinese. Barry's being Japanese. Dishes from those parts of the world account for a large part of our diets.
However, living in Spain, people have often assumed that all/or most recipes here will be spanish!!!!!
Of course, there are many spanish dishes we love too and this category will grow overtime. But for the most part you will find oriental, indian, mexican, etc etc and some traditional english recipes too. In fact cuisines from all around the world!
History
Our lives back in the UK were so different to living in Spain. We worked very long hours running our interior design business and had little (if any) playtime. Just like most brits "living to work", unlike the spanish who "work to live"!
Having lost both my parents when they were so young; a life in Spain came upon us earlier than we had originally planned. Life is to short - do it now!
Throughout this site you'll discover about life and living in spain. The best move we ever made.
However, after several months of health issues and then suddenly becoming extremely poorly back in December 2009 I was admitted to hosiptal and diagnosed with cancer in January 2010. See life is to short to put off your dreams. It's been a long battle and after four major operations, chemo and radiotherapy I am finally starting to recover.
We have so much more we plan to do and I'm just not ready to join mum and dad in heaven just yet LOL.
Future
We shall continue our plans here to purchase and renovate properties. Currently on our 4th project and hoping to move on to the next sometime in 2012. Condition of property market dependent of course! Come join us in our adventures of fun, life, property, food and culture.
